The French U19 Futsal Team saw out the Futsal Week Winter Cup, organized in Croatia, with a fourth win in as many games by overpowering Latvia (6-3).

That was the goal and it has been achieved: The Futsal U19 team has won all of its matches in the Futsal Week Winter Cup. After victories over Slovenia (4-1), Belgium (8-4) and San Marino (5-3), Les Bleuets dominated Latvia (6-3) this Saturday, January 8th.

In front (4-0) at the break, after goals from Sofiane Alla, Ilies Chriraa and a brace from Mathis Gazengel, France saw the Latvians return from the dressing room at half time before seeing out the match thanks to Samir El Mourabet and goalkeeper Axel Duperret, winning the competition.

Coach Clément Lerebours was happy with the victory: “There are a lot of positives to take from this tournament. We win our matches, we are generally in control, but we always have swings in concentration and intensity that we have to cut out in order to avoid complicating the task. We told the boys to take this competition game by game, we leave with four victories and when preparing for an important deadline there is nothing better, even if there is still work to be done”.

This deadline, the qualifiers for the UEFA U19 Futsal Euros (scheduled for March against Slovenia, Hungary and Serbia) is fast approaching. “Our group is starting to take shape, we have fourteen / fifteen players who are with us regularly. For the Euros group stage, we will need a group of twelve. Before that, we will play twice against the Czech Republic in February which will allow us to finalize our squad and refine our tactics. We have already fulfilled part of the contract, namely winning to gain confidence”.
