France´s 26-man squad for the Euros

Head coach Didier Deschamps has announced his list of players for the European championship.

Didier Deschamps revealed on Tuesday, the 18th of May, 26 players for his Euro 2020 squad this summer (June 11th - July 11th). Due to COVID, UEFA authorized an extra three players for each qualified team. 

For this tournament, the French head coach decided to recall the Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. He chose also to call up for the first time Jules Koundé. The FC Seville defender could play center half or as right back. In March, Koundé played in the Under-21 UEFA Euro 2021. Now he will step up the French National Team. 

The french team’s preparation for the delayed Euro 2020 finals will begin on Wednesday, the 26th of May, at the Clairefontaine base camp. France will play two matches before the Euros : against Wales (Wednesday, the 2nd of June, in Nice, Allianz Riviera) and Bulgaria (Tuesday, the 8th of June, in Saint-Denis, Stade de France).
