France third in FIFA men's ranking
France are currently ranked third in the FIFA world men's ranking, which was published on Thursday 22nd December. They are preceded only by Brazil, and 2022 world champions Argentina.
Finalists of the 2022 World Cup last Sunday in Qatar, France have climbed up the podium of nations, rising from fourth to third place in the current FIFA world ranking between October and December.
Despite their elimination in the quarter finals, Brazil remain frontrunners in the international football hierarchy, with a 2 point lead over the Argentinian world champions. Formerly world number one, Belgium dropped two places to fourth place in the ranking.
The nations to make the most notable progress in the FIFA ranking are Croatia, who leap from 12th to 7th place, and Morocco who climb from 22nd to 11th position, both boosted by finishing in third and fourth place respectively in the recent World Cup.
The next FIFA Men's World Ranking will be published on Thursday April 6th 2023.
