France under 21s will face Italy, Norway and Switzerland in the group stage of Euro U21 2023, which will take place from June 21st to July 8th in Georgia and Romania.

Les Bleuets now know their schedule for the group stage of the 2023 UEFA U21 European Championship. The draw, which was carried out on Tuesday evening at the Romanian Athenee palace in Bucharest (Romania), placed Sylvain Ripoll's team in Group D where they will face Italy, Norway and Switzerland.

The 24th edition of the tournament will take place between June 21st and July 8th 2023 in Georgia and Romania, who are co-hosting. It brings together sixteen teams, divided into four groups of four, and France will play their first three matches in Romania, at CFR Cluj Stadium and Cluj Arena in Cluj-Napoca, on June 22nd, 25th and 28th.

The Groups

  • Group A: Georgia, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands
  • Group B: Romania, Spain, Ukraine, Croatia,
  • Group C: Czech Republic, England, Germany (holders), Israel
  • Group D: Switzerland, Norway, France, Italy

The top two from each group qualify for the quarter finals.

Euro 2023 Schedule

Co-hosts of Euro U21 2023, Georgia and Romania, will each host two groups, two quarter finals and a semi final.

Group Stage (Wednesday 21st to Wednesday 28th June 2023):

  • Group A (in Georgia): at Paichadze Stadium and at Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi, matches to be played on 21st, 24th and 27th June 2023
  • Group B (in Romania): at Steaua Stadium and Giulesti Stadium in Bucharest, matches to be played on 21st, 24th and 27th June 2023
  • Group C (in Georgia): at the Batumi Arena in Batumi and at the Shengelia Stadium in Kutaisi, matches to be played on June 22nd, 25th and 28th 2023
  • Group D (in Romania): at CFR Cluj Stadium and Cluj Arena in Cluj-Napoca, matches to be played on June 22nd, 25th and 28th 2023

Quarter Finals (Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2023):

  • Q1: 1st group A - 2nd group C
  • Q2: 1st group C - 2nd group A
  • Q3: 1st group B - 2nd group D
  • Q4: 1st group D - 2nd group B

Semi Finals (Wednesday July 5th 2023):

  • Winner Q1 - Winner Q2 at Batumi Arena in Batumi or Steaua Stadium in Bucharest
  • Winner Q3 - Winner Q4 at Batumi Arena in Batumi or Steaua Stadium in Bucharest

Final: Saturday July 8th 2023 at the Batumi Arena in Batumi (Georgia)

The top three teams in the tournament will each be awarded a place at the 2024 Olympic football tournament in Paris, excluding the host country France, who automatically qualify.
